Building Committee

After occupying the remodeled sanctuary for Christmas 2006, we concentrated on the finishing touches to complete the overall building project based on the plans and within the budget.

Work Accomplished in 2007
Early in 2007, some final work was completed on the heating and air conditioning system, electrical fixtures, installation of four additional pews and two new stained glass windows. Final approval of the site plan by the Town of Clifton occurred in February. This involved a minor modification of the site water quality control structure.

The recognition of the gifts to the building fund was completed with the inclusion of special plaques for designated gifts, the installation of the bricks and blocks and a list of donors, gifts and memorials distributed in a booklet form at the Dedication Service on January 21, 2007. These were in addition to the “Touching Tomorrow Today” plaque in the Narthex area. Under the leadership of Marla Hembree, the Webb carvings were beautifully re-installed throughout the church.

The landscaping committee completed some additional plantings. The committee members worked hard and successfully maintained the landscaping through the summer drought.

In May, the Building Committee was combined under the Buildings and Grounds Committee. We continued to complete some improvements in the sound system in the sanctuary. We received a special grant from the Poole Foundation to complete the furnishing of the kitchen and fellowship hall and to provide for a sound system. The tables for the fellowship hall were purchased and plans are underway for additional kitchen equipment and installation of a sound system.

Financial Highlights
The project was closed out at a total cost of $3,153,000 – just slightly below the approved target of $3,156,700. (Detailed figures are in the financial section of the Annual Report.) Thanks to some very generous gifts from our members in December, the project ended with a balance of $13 thousand (about 1/2 of which is in the form of donated jewelry which is yet to be sold). These amounts, and any future gifts to the Building Fund (for memorial bricks, blocks, or furniture, fixtures or building improvements etc.), will be held apart in a separate building fund account for use in meeting future needs of our new facilities.

We want to take this opportunity to thank the members and friends of CPC for their help over the past few years to accomplish this building project.

Thank you.

Elder Mark Reimers,
Chair, Building Committee (thru May 2007)
