Clerk of the Session
The Session of the Church is responsible for the mission and government of the Church. Minutes and other official records of the Session, which include minutes of Congregational meetings and records of the board of Deacons and the board of Trustees, are the property of the Session, and the Clerk is responsible for their preservation. This report is based on the minutes and other official records of Clifton Presbyterian Church for the year 2007.
The last year, 2007, built on the prior years’ accomplishments, quite literally. The multimillion dollar expansion and renovation of the sanctuary was completed in December 2006. The sanctuary was rededicated on January 21, 2007. During 2007, the final work was completed, including drilling a new well when it became apparent that the old well that had served the church for so long would not be sufficient for the needs of the church. More than $25,000 was raised for the unanticipated project.
The completion of the building project highlighted two inseparable issues: the vision for the future of Clifton Presbyterian now made possible by the expanded and modern facilities and the financial responsibilities arising from the project. How does the Congregation envision Clifton Presbyterian during the next decade? How is the Congregation going to meet the additional financial obligation created by the permanent financing? As 2007 ended, the Congregation is beginning to address the two entwined matters.
