Communications Committee
I would like to thank Stewart and Peggy Cranston for all of their hard work in building the new sign for CPC that was installed at the entrance to Richards Lane in December. This new sign was designed to be more visible to passing traffic and includes the Preschool and The Senior Center in the information. It also has additional space at the bottom of the sign for announcements, upcoming events, and special services.
In our efforts to reach out to the surrounding community we have continued our advertising in the Connection Newspaper, The Fairfax County Times Spring & Fall Guides to Fairfax that reaches 165,000 households and The Northern Virginia Bridal Planner advertising the new capabilities that we have to offer for weddings. The committee also funded a banner to advertise the Annual Spaghetti Dinner to string across Clifton Road.
I want to thank Marge Fare, our talented and dedicated webmaster, for her continued support and improvements to CPC’s website (www.cliftonpc.org). If you have not visited the website recently I recommend you go to see the most recent updates. You can find the monthly church calendar, a history of the church, and links to relevant magazines and reference materials.
The Committee published the Church Photo Directory in September. This was the first time since 2003 that the directory had been published and it was completely done using our internal resources. The new publication reflected an increase of 44% in the number of families in the directory. This will be published semi annually and the next edition is due in March with photo sessions in February. Thanks to C.C. Bartholomew, Bill Watts, Trish Robertson, Jane King, and Judy Shaw for their work in taking photos and putting the directory together.
Some of the other initiatives the Committee has been working on are a Quarterly Newsletter, with the first edition due in March, and improvements to the signs in the area that direct people to the church.
