Clifton Presbyterian Church Preschool
Clifton Presbyterian Church Preschool employs a staff of seven and serves ninety-four children aged three to five years in five different course offerings. Preschool students attend developmental programs two days a week for three-year-olds, three days a week for four-year-olds, and five days a week for five-year-olds. Afternoon extended care program is offered 5 days per week and is fully enrolled except for Monday. The learning program is enhanced by special activities that include regular supplemental music, tumbling and gymnastics, fire safety awareness, multiple field trips, pastoral lessons, dramatic performances, and end-of-the-year family picnics. The preschool invites preschool families to explore participation in the CPC community during our September orientations and our student Christmas and end-of-year performances.
For the year 2007:
As with the church, the Preschool has spent its first full year in the new facility. The 2 classrooms are fully utilized and appreciated. On Sundays, the Church nursery school uses the classrooms. Preschool and Church share the well organized office space as well as the available reception/entrance area. Although sinks/drinking fountains have been built in the classrooms, adapted children’s toilet facilities are shared with the church. The Fellowship Hall is ideal space for special activities and scheduling is interspersed with church activities. Improvements to the playground and the pathway have been made. Occasionally, preschool classes have visited the Senior Center and the seniors have been able to attend Preschool Christmas programs. The Preschool supports its entire operation on a current annual budget of about $198,000. The Preschool maintains a scholarship fund for needy families, and engages the children in supporting numerous CPC mission opportunities, including Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and financial support of the Preschool at the Kibwezi mission in Kenya. The preschool parents also assist in the collection of toys, gifts and cookies for the local organization Our Neighbor’s Child.
The Preschool continues to share in Church office expenses, paper products, copier and cleaning services, while also paying Workers Compensation premiums for the Preschool staff.
Clifton Presbyterian Church Preschool continues to enjoy an enviable reputation in the surrounding community as a result of our outstanding staff and a combined program of Christian ethics and developmental skills.
