Lynn is a native of Lewisburg, Pa. After an undergraduate degree from Denison University in Political Science and International Relations, she was program director and English as a Second Language instructor in YMCA sponsored programs in southern Japan. From there, she worked for Save the Children in a refugee program in central Thailand for Laotian hilltribe people. The programs and activities she supported there acculturated persons for their resettlement in the USA.
In 1986, Lynn earned the Masters of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary. Her field education experience was at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. She subsequently accepted a call as Associate Pastor there. The focus of her call was Christian Education and Mission. She was a founder of Bethesda Cares, an ecumenical community based mission to persons in need. While at BPC, she was a Field Education Supervisor. Lynn also served as acting Head of Staff at this 280 member congregation. After eight and a half years at BPC, Lynn was invited to serve as Interim Pastor at the 110 member Adelphi Presbyterian Church for one and a half years and then one year as Interim Associate Pastor at the 2300 member Vienna Presbyterian Church. At VPC, her call focused on Congregational and Pastoral care.
Lynn’s call to Clifton Presbyterian Church began in August of 1995. We have been blessed with her commitment and faith example, as she has led our community of believers into greater involvement in the issues facing our local community, denomination and the wider world. She participates regularly in Presbytery and is a minister member of National Capital Presbytery's Permanent Judicial Commission.
We have also been blessed to have her family as active members of our church. Her children Eric and Sara are active in the programs for their age groups. Her husband Dale brings a faith journey to our congregation that includes a five year mission to Zaire for the PC-USA. He was an engineer at a mission hospital and helped direct a hydroelectric dam construction project. Dale teaches in the 7th/8th grade Christian Education class and is involved in mission and buildings and grounds programs.
At recent new member orientation classes, when asked to share faith journeys, almost every new member mentioned the warm reception at CPC when first visiting, the support they feel for their families and the inspirational leadership of our pastor. Perhaps you would like to participate in our faith journey and grow into the new millennium with Clifton Presbyterian Church.
